Congratulations to JSP Student Haley Anderson has been awarded a Daniel E. Koshland Jr Fellowship in the Art of Teaching Writing!

The Daniel E. Koshland, Jr. Art of Teaching Writing Fellowship is a grant designed to provide graduate students teaching Reading and Composition courses in 2023-24 the opportunity to improve existing and develop new pedagogical skills and practices.

Congratulations to JSP Student Diana Reddy who was offered and has accepted a tenure-track position at the UC Berkeley School of Law!

Diana Reddy will be joining the UC Berkeley School of Law as an Assistant Professor this summer. Diana will be teaching Work Law, Contracts, and seminars focusing on work, inequality, social movements, and political economy.

Congratulations to JSP Student Naomi Yitref who has been awarded the Mentored Research Award for the 2023-2024 academic year! Naomi was selected based on a two-step nomination process (departmental and campuswide), and her selection for this award reflects the university's recognition of her distinguished academic record and confidence in her promise for continued achievement.

Congratulations to JSP Student Brie McLemore who has been awarded the University of California Dissertation-Year Fellowship for the 2023-2024 academic year! Brie was selected based on a two-step nomination process (departmental and campuswide), and her selection for this award reflects the University's confidence that she will produce a dissertation of outstanding quality.

Congratulations to JSP Student Mitzia Martinez who has been awarded the 2023 Graduate Assembly Graduate Student Mentor Award! The UC Berkeley Outstanding Graduate Student Peer Mentor Award honors Berkeley graduate and professional students who have shown an outstanding commitment to mentoring, advising, and generally supporting either undergraduate students or their fellow graduate students.

Congratulations to JSP Student Eduardo Bautista Duran who has been selected for the UC President’s Pre-Professoriate Fellowship (PPPF).  Fellows were selected based on their outstanding academic achievements, their commitment to advancing issues of equity and inclusion, and their interest in pursuing a career in the professoriate.

We will hold a memorial service for Laurie Edelman on Tuesday, April 4, at 4:00 p.m. in the Warren Room (Rm. 295) at Berkeley Law.

Dear Berkeley Law Community,

It is with a very heavy heart that we are writing to share the sad news that our wonderful colleague, Laurie Edelman, passed away tonight.  Laurie had been seriously ill since late December, but had been doing better until recently.

Congratulations to JSP Student Bonnie Cherry who is a recipient of the Mike Synar Graduate Research Fellowship!

Each year, the Institute of Governmental Studies awards three Mike Synar Graduate Research Fellowships of $3,000 each. The Synar Fellowship is awarded to distinguished UC Berkeley graduate students who are writing their dissertations on an aspect of American politics, which may include comparative research across nations with the United States as a major case.

Congratulations to JSP Student Joel Sati who was offered and has accepted a tenure track position at the University of Oregon Law School!

Joel Sati will be an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Oregon School of Law beginning Fall 2023. Sati will be teaching Criminal Law, Immigration Law, and Crimmigration among other courses.
