Make a Gift by Phone:

You may call the university Donor Gift Services (DGS) Team with your credit card information at 510.643.9789. The DGS Team will answer general inquiries including taxpayer identification from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Digital Currency:

UC Berkeley is now set up to receive gifts of digital or crypto currency. To make a gift, please contact your fundraiser, or contact Gift Services directly at GiveSecurities@berkeley.edu.

Please provide your name and contact information, the quantity and type of digital currency to be donated, the law fund to allocate the gift to, and the estimated value of the gift in US dollars.

Please note, The IRS considers digital currency contributions to be gifts of personal property (not cash) for federal income tax purposes. Donors who wish to take a tax deduction should consult with their own legal and tax advisor for professional advice regarding any tax and legal implications. For more detailed information, refer to guidance for virtual currency provided by the IRS (link).
