Multi-Year Funding Package

In AY 2024-2025, all admitted students were awarded a 5-year funding package covering tuition and fees, plus additional financial support at a minimum of $46,000 per year.

Year 1

  • Selznick Fellowship: coverage of tuition & fees, $46,000 stipend

  • Eligible Out-of-State students must apply for CA residency during Year 1

  • Stipend ($3000) for summer research assistant position with JSP faculty

Year 2

  • Graduate Student Instructor (GSI)* appointment with Legal Studies program: coverage of tuition & fees, salary, and an additional grant from JSP (not tied to employment)

  • Stipend ($3000) for summer research assistant with JSP faculty or for independent summer research

Year 3

  • Graduate Student Instructor (GSI)* appointment with Legal Studies program: coverage of tuition & fees, salary, and an additional grant from JSP (not tied to employment)

  • International students must advance to candidacy before the start of Year 4

Year 4

  • Graduate Student Instructor (GSI)* appointment with Legal Studies program: coverage of tuition & fees, salary, and an additional grant from JSP (not tied to employment)

Year 5

*Please note that the current GSI salary for students with an 50% appointment is $36,000 a year.
