Funding the joint Ph.D./J.D.

In recent years, the Jurisprudence and Social Policy Ph.D. program has also been able to offer significant financial support for students who are pursuing a concurrent J.D. and a Ph.D. at Berkeley Law, to partially or fully offset the cost of Professional Degree Supplemental Tuition (PDST). Priority is given to those who have not previously received financial support from JSP for their J.D. degree. Please be aware that funding for these awards is not guaranteed, and the total amount available may fluctuate from year to year.

Multi-Year Funding Package

In AY 2024-2025, all admitted students were awarded a 5-year funding package covering tuition and fees, plus additional financial support at a minimum of $46,000 per year.

Selznick Fellowship: coverage of tuition & fees, $46,000 stipend

Eligible Out-of-State students must apply for CA residency during Year 1

Stipend ($3000) for summer research assistant position with JSP faculty
