Applications for the Investigations Lab are now open for both graduate and undergraduate students for the 2025–2026 academic year.
The award-winning Investigations Lab--the first academic program of its kind in the world--trains students to use the latest digital research methods to partner with real-world organizations to investigate alleged human rights abuses and international crimes. We do this work in collaboration with human rights lawyers, NGOs (such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and others), and journalists (past partners have ranged from the New York Times to the Washington Post to Reuters and the Center for Investigative Reporting).
The deadline to apply is Tuesday, September 2, at 4:00 p.m. Undergraduate students can apply by completing the URAP application and the Google form application. Graduate students can apply by completing the Google form application ONLY. Students must be logged into your berkeley.edu email to access the Google form.

Areas I or IV
Prof. Asad Rahim
This course will provide students with an opportunity to engage Black critical thought on issues related to law and inequality. Students will consider contributions from Black thought leaders on structural racism (in employment, education and policing, among other topics), community organizing and community empowerment. To explore these areas, the course will rely on scholarship, film and guest speakers. Through readings, discussion, and weekly reflections, students will critically engage modern Black theory, Black activism, and empirical scholarship. This class seeks to make racialized structures legible and facilitate dialogue not only about what is, but also what could be.

Need an extra unit?  Here's a cool DeCal!!!
Join Climate Change in Media! (Course # 28219)
Mondays from 5:00 - 6:30 pm

This course focuses on how climate change is framed to the public. As the threat of climate change increases daily, we must analyze how climate change is framed, because the media can convince people of almost anything. This class is going to analyze how climate change is portrayed through various forms of media, including writing, documentaries, news outlets, and our daily surroundings. We will particularly be focusing on the concept of environmental justice when examining all these sources. In order to properly address climate change, we must build a framework that not only protects our planet but also ensures that the burdens and benefits of a sustainable future are shared equitably among all communities, leaving no one behind. The course is open to students from all disciplines, backgrounds, and lived experiences to contribute to a diverse, engaging, and enriching classroom environment.

My name is Isabel Coberly, and I am currently a Project Analyst in the New York office of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky, and Popeo, P.C. We are recruiting for the Project Analyst Program.

We are currently recruiting for the next cohort of talented near or recent college graduates seeking an opportunity to work at one of the nation’s leading law firms and explore a variety of legal practice areas. For 35 years, our program has attracted exceptional students from top schools across the country aiming to bolster their experience and interest in the legal industry.

We would love to see Berkeley well represented in the Project Analyst Program. To this end, we will be hosting three information sessions in late August. These information sessions are designed to provide an in-depth overview of the firm and Project Analyst Program, as well as an opportunity for prospective applicants to raise questions about the program and the recruitment process. Information sessions will also include office-specific insights, per the descriptions below:

The Mintz Project Analyst Program

Founded in 1989, Mintz’s Project Analyst Program provides an unparalleled opportunity for recent college graduates to gain experience within the legal and business environments of one of the country’s top law firms. There are currently 15 Project Analysts staffed across Mintz’s Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C. offices. We are also recruiting for 1 Project Analyst in our San Diego office on a rolling basis. As this is a separate application, please apply here if interested.

The Program provides the unique opportunity for Project Analysts to work in a wide variety of practice areas within the firm. Project Analysts in the Boston office rotate every eight months through various sections including: Business and Corporate Finance; Employment, Labor and Benefits; Healthcare; Immigration; Litigation; and Pro Bono; as well as Mintz’s consulting affiliate, ML Strategies.

Project Analysts in the New York office similarly work across all sections of the office, but in a non-rotational structure with an emphasis on Litigation, White Collar Criminal Defense, and Emerging Companies.

Project Analysts in the Washington, D.C. office work extensively in the Federal practice area and ML Strategies as well as Healthcare and Antitrust.

The responsibilities of a Project Analyst range from financial analysis and trial preparation to client interviews and legal presentations. Analysts also coordinate and staff many of the firm’s pro bono and community service activities.

All applications are due by Friday, September 19th at 11:59pm, and can be accessed via Handshake or on the Careers page of the Mintz website. Additional program information can be found on our website at Project Analyst Program | Mintz.
