The Vanguard Court Watch program is seeking interns. The Court Watch has been monitoring and reporting on local court cases for the last decade in Yolo County and has expanded into Sacramento and San Francisco.
Our program is currently looking for interns who can attend virtual court watch sessions two to three times a week to cover criminal trials. Interns would be trained in journalism alongside an experienced Sacramento journalist and develop a journalistic portfolio.
Interns must be able to:
– Attend virtual court watch sessions two to three times a week
– Attend a virtual 6:30 pm Monday meeting every week
– Contribute 10 hours a week
– Meet same-day deadlines

Cal in the Capital (CITC) is a professional development program that prepares a cohort of 70 UC Berkeley students for summer internship opportunities in Washington, D.C. Cal in the Capital interns come from all classes, majors, backgrounds, and areas of interest. To date, more than 3,900 Cal in the Capital interns have served over 1.6 million hours of service in hundreds of professional settings, including Congressional offices, think tanks, non-profit organizations, media centers, private companies, research institutions, and more.
**Due to the uncertainties regarding COVID-19, we are currently recruiting for a remote Spring DeCal and Summer 2021 internship experience. We remain committed to creating a dynamic and engaging CITC experience, filled with internship opportunities, alumni mentorship, industry speakers, and professional development. An official statement regarding the decision of an in-person or virtual summer experience will be made by the UC Washington Center in March 2021 and we will inform all participants as soon as possible.

My name is Selena, and I work for the UC Berkeley Labor Center. I’m reaching out because this Spring 2021, we are offering Public Policy 190: Field Studies in Community and Labor Organizing and Public Policy 290: Challenges & Innovation in Labor Policy. Both courses are taught by Dr. Anibel Ferus-Comelo through the Goldman School of Public Policy.
PubPol 190: This field study course is designed for undergraduate and graduate students who have an interest in social and economic justice, and seek to earn academic credit while gaining experience in organizing. Building upon the Labor Center’s popular Labor Summer program, it allows students to apply existing organizing skills or acquire new knowledge in community and labor organizations. Once enrolled, students will be matched with our community partners that promote the interests of working families in the Bay Area. Classroom-based guided reflection, skills development, career information, and engagement with current debates will complement the fieldwork. This experience can open the door to life-long careers as organizers, researchers, policy analysts, political lobbyists, communication specialists and influential leaders in the labor movement.

Office Manager/Law Clerk Job in West Oakland
The Law Offices of Charles Drexler is a small, but busy estate planning and business law office looking for an office manager/law clerk to help with file management, clerical tasks, and legal services. This is a part time position starting as early as November 2020, with potential to change to full-time starting summer 2021 (great for graduating seniors). No prior law experience is necessary. This is not a remote position, as we are taking safety precautions to work in the office.
Duties include but are not limited to:
– Open, maintain and close files for various matters including estate planning, probate, trust administration, conservatorships, Limited Liability Companies, and CA Corporations
– Assist with monthly billing tasks
– Draft LLC/Corporation and Estate Plan documents
– Prepare documents for court filings
– Answer phones and maintain client relationships

Zen /Chan allows us to find the sync between activity and inactivity, form and formless, to allow our life experience to be a beautiful and fulfilling expression of life.
This is an eight-week series that covers fundamentals of Zen/Chan meditation for the UC Berkeley community, hopefully helping participants to establish and incorporate meditation into their daily routines and benefit from it. Step-by-step instructions will be given in this class. Anyone with or without meditation experience is welcome to join.
