Rafael's research interests focus on the role of institutions in natural resource management settings. Rafael's interests lie in applying mixed methods to better understand how to operationalize both statutory and voluntary environmental standards and commitments.
Prior to entering the PhD program in Jurisprudence & Social Policy (JSP), Rafael served as the International Aviation Environmental Policy Fellow for Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and as Assistant Vice President and Software Developer at JRI America Inc., a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC).
