5)  Survey for Rsrch
Survey for Rsrch

Hello! I am a student researcher at California State University East Bay gathering data on student activism and organizing tactics within Northern California universities.

I’m reaching out to invite students within your department or program to participate in a survey designed to better understand the challenges student activists face and the strategies they develop in response to institutional and social barriers. This research cannot be carried out without your help, so thank you! Every step counts.

Please copy the following text for distribution within your department, classes, or other relevant spaces:

Hello! My name is Ray and I’m a student at Cal State East Bay developing research on student activism and organizing tactics within Northern California universities.

This study specifically focuses on grassroots student organizations—groups that operate independently of significant external funding or institutional support. Relevant organizations may include those involved in labor rights, environmental justice, racial justice, or other forms of student-led activism.

The survey is completely anonymous, takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete, and includes questions about your experiences with institutional obstacles, social networks, and the tactics your organization employs in outreach. Participants will also have the option to indicate if they are open to a follow-up interview to further explore these topics.

Your participation will contribute to ongoing discussions about political engagement, student activism, and the role of universities as sites of both resistance and repression. If you are interested, please follow this link to access the survey: Structures and Strategies Within Student Activist Organizations

Additionally, if you know of other student organizers who may be interested, please feel free to forward this email to them. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to me at rherbert7@horizon.csueastbay.edu

Questions about your rights as a study participant may also be addressed to the irb@csueastbay.edu or (510) 885-4476.

Thank you for your time and for the work you do. I appreciate your time and hope to learn from your experiences!

Wishing you all the best,
Ray Toad
