PhD Student in Jurisprudence and Social Policy
Rachel Wallace is a PhD student in Jurisprudence and Social Policy at UC Berkeley School of Law. She will also be pursuing her JD from Stanford Law School starting in Fall 2026. Her research interests include labor markets and workers' rights for incarcerated persons, feminist theory of abolition, anti-Blackness in legal pedagogy, and the political economy of carceral punishment.
Prior to her PhD studies, Rachel was a clinical instructor in the Policy Advocacy Clinic at Berkeley Law. In this role, her work primarily included eliminating fees and fines for young people in the South and researching restitution and cash bail in California. Prior to coming to Berkeley for her Masters in Pubic Policy, Rachel worked in higher education access, youth mentorship, voting rights, and civic engagement.
