Mar. 7 & 14 - Law & Social Justice Lunch Talk Series

February 28, 2024

You are invited to lunch with a new author almost every Thursday afternoon this March at 2240 Piedmont Avenue; lunch will be served at 12:45 in the Philip Selznick Seminar Room.

On Thursday, March 7th, we welcome the editor of The Routledge International Handbook of Penal Abolition, Michael Coyle Ph.D. The goal of the event is to support J.D. and Ph.D. students in their legal studies. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how penal abolition can add value to legal scholarship, teaching, or practice.

On Thursday, March 14th, we welcome the award-winning author of Waveborne, Ayesha Asad. Waveborne explores second-generation immigrant adolescence through a reflective lens, unearthing a deep-rooted desire for kinship and reinvention. Attendees with leave with a better understanding of how law and art can improve the lives of vulnerable populations.

Please enjoy a healthy meal and conversation about law, politics, art, and philosophy! This event is sponsored by the Law and Society Graduate Association in partnership with the Student Association at Berkeley Law. Please feel free to write to anthonycarrasco@berkeley.edu if you have any questions or concerns.
