BLSA!
The Berkeley Legal Studies Association (BLSA) strives to create a community of individuals interested in law. BLSA events include LSAT workshops, lunches with Legal Studies professors, speaker panels, The Living Catalogue (where professors speak about their upcoming classes), and many, many other enjoyable and interesting opportunities!
BLSA also organizes and publishes the California Legal Studies Journal, a forum for high-quality undergraduate research relating to a large range of law-related topics.

Incarcerated Scholars Prog
About the ISP: There are more than 20,000 people actively pursuing post-secondary education in prisons throughout the U.S. today, but rarely do incarcerated students have access to the people, tools, resources, and information necessary to take action and make well-informed decisions regarding their academic journey.
The Incarcerated Scholars Program aims to break down these educational barriers for currently incarcerated folks by assisting them with all aspects of their reach for higher education. With guidance from seasoned program coordinators, interns will communicate via letter writing with men and women in jails & prisons throughout California and provide services such as academic advising and planning, transcript analysis, exploratory research on majors, colleges, careers, and degree programs, UC/CSU transfer & application assistance, and access to reentry information and resources.
Through this impactful work, interns will learn first-hand about the issues surrounding the intersection of incarceration and education and their effects on marginalized communities.
How does it work?:For every enrolled unit, interns will serve 45 hours per semester (1 unit=45 hours; 2 units=90 hours; 3 units=135 hours/semester); students may also volunteer in lieu of earning units.
When & Where?: Flexible weekly drop-in hours served either in-person at Stiles Hall [2400C Bancroft Way, Berkeley, CA 94704] OR remotely
Who is eligible?: All UC Berkeley students (We prioritize underrepresented students: Formerly Incarcerated/System-Impacted/Re-entry/Transfer/Students of Color)

The Undergraduate Legal Honors Society strives to provide access to pre-law resources for all UC Berkeley students, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status, or any other limitation, and to educate students on the complexities one may face on the path to law school, as well as provide them with the ability to successfully navigate their professional and intellectual paths in the legal field.
ULHS is an all inclusive pre-law community. We host monthly meetings and exclusive pre-law events such as Mock LSAT with Testmasters, Diversity in Law Panels, Admissions Talks with Berkeley Law Admissions Officer, Internship Workshops with the Career Center, and many more! A ULHS membership will not only mean you’ll have access to these events, but also access to our newsletters that highlight local pre-law opportunities, our LSAT discount codes, and member-specific socials.

Are you a Pell Grant recipient and U.S. citizen who is planning to study and/or intern abroad (in-person or virtually)? Attend the Gilman Scholarship Application Workshop and learn about the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, a federal scholarship which funds up to $5,000 towards a study abroad experience.

We’ll also share tips for preparing a strong application, followed by a Q&A with a panel of UC Berkeley Gilman Scholars.
The Gilman application is currently open for applicants whose programs start between December 1, 2021 and October 31, 2022. This encompasses Spring 2022, Summer 2022, Fall 2022, and Academic Year 2022-2023 programs. The Gilman Scholarship application deadline is Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 11:59pm Pacific Time.
