The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) at UC Berkeley is conducting a research study to understand how our undergraduate students perceive the grading practices used by instructors in their courses, as well as their general feelings towards grades.
If you are interested in participating in a one-time student focus group to discuss grading at UC Berkeley, please complete the following consent form and screening survey: https://berkeley.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eljy8CQ0k0WtnhA. If selected, a member of the research team will contact you to confirm your participation. Focus groups will be designed to ensure participants represent the diversity of social identities, academic interests, and demographics of the undergraduate study body.
Participation in this screening survey will take approximately 5 minutes, while those selected to participate in the focus group can expect to commit an additional 60 minutes (1 hour) across the entire semester.
Refreshments will be provided during the scheduled focus groups. Moreover, focus group participants will receive a $25 Berkeley Bucks gift card. However, there is no compensation for completing this initial survey.
There are very minimal risks to participants involved in this research. Participation in all parts of this study including the focus group is confidential and any data generated in this study will be anonymized and/or reported in aggregate.

My name is María Watson, I am a current 2L at Berkeley Law School. Our Berkeley Latine Journal of Law and Policy (BLJLP) will be hosting a symposium to celebrate the new publication of our annual journal and to highlight the authors & stories featured in our newest volume.
Many undergraduate students I have met have spoken highly about the Legal Studies Department, and I wanted to personally share details of our symposium in case any undergraduate students might be interested in attending. We understand this is taking place on a Thursday when classes are scheduled, so attendees are welcome to come and go as needed.
While law students don't get to spend much time with other departments, I hope small efforts like this might help bridge the gaps to further strengthen community-building efforts across campus.
The Berkeley Latine Journal of Law & Policy Invites you to our annual Symposium. This year, our theme is "State-Sanctioned Violence Against Women." Our event is co-sponsored by Berkeley Law's Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice.
The Symposium will be held in-person on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Berkeley Law's Goldberg Room, Room 297.
This marquee event brings together our current journal volume's authors, law and other students, professors, lawyers, activists and other community members to learn about and discuss how social movements and the law can be a tool to address and dismantle state violence.
Please rsvp hereThis is a great opportunity for your members to familiarize themselves with the law school space and network with Latine students and professors.
