Fung Fellows work on a variety of projects based on student interests, partner organizations, desired area/s of impact, teaming opportunities, and populations of focus over the course of 15 weeks. Topics have ranged from developing digital platforms to reduce social isolation for older adults to designing a more efficient cutting and tensioning tool for ghost net removal underwater. Yes, the Fung Fellowship program has recently changed from being a one-year program to a one-semester program. This new model is designed to make the fellowship more experientially rich and accessible, offering students a more immersive educational experience within a shorter timeframe. This will also allow high touch engagement with faculty and peers while working closely with project partners. Students from the Fall cohort will also have the opportunity to join any Spring workshops and events for a sustained program experience.
That’s totally alright, our students come from across campus representing over 40 majors! The fellowship provides the exposure you need to work in successful teams to innovate with technology-based solutions. This is not a program to transform you into a programmer or engineer, but leverage skill sets across student teams to develop impactful solutions to address public health or conservation challenges.
