A really cool law firm in SF that specializes in employment litigation is looking for a Legal Studies major to work part time Administrative Assistant.
The Law Offices of Jeremy Pasternak, a small plaintiffs’ civil rights and employment litigation firm located in San Francisco’s Financial District, seeks to fill a part-time File Clerk position. (Entry-level administrative position processing incoming mail, scanning documents, managing electronic files, filing hard copies.)
Approximately 8-15 hours per week, Monday through Friday (flexible scheduling around classes).
Position is a hybrid in-office/remote position as tasks permit.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, a fast learner and expresses an interest in the law.
The File Clerk is responsible for creating and maintaining organizational systems for the firm. This position offers the opportunity to become familiar with legal documents including pleadings, discovery, motions, and correspondence with courts, opposing counsel and clients. Over time, the File Clerk may be responsible for occasional side projects that directly relate to litigation, such as research and legal writing.
This is an excellent opportunity for law school students seeking part-time work.
Legal Studies major Minju who has been working there shares this insight:
I can say that I've personally gained so much insight into the litigation system, not only from organizing discovery and pleading documents but also because Jeremy gave me the opportunity to work alongside him on some pro-bono cases. Hours are super flexible––I've been going in whenever I want––and the office is right off both the Embarcadero BART station and Salesforce Transit Center, so transportation should be easy, too. If anyone is interested, please contact minjukim@berkeley.edu or Jeremy directly at jdp@pasternaklaw.com. Thank you!

JusticeCorps is an AmeriCorps program engaging approximately 65 continuing university students from Bay Area Partner Universities and 7 graduate fellows in intensive volunteer service. Participants will be placed in the self-help centers of the Superior Courts of: San Mateo, Alameda, and San Francisco Counties as well as in the offices of our non-profit legal aid partners in Contra Costa and Solano Counties. These organizations assist self-represented litigants who cannot afford an attorney to help them resolve their legal matters.
Unlike many other fellowships, internships, and volunteer programs JusticeCorps members work directly with people in need and do not do administrative work. All members will participate in a mandatory two-day (remote) weekend orientation and training on Saturday, September 6th, & Sunday, September 7th, 2025, and receive over 40 hours of training over the course of the year.
Legal Access Interns (part-time) commit to serve for 300 hours (including training), which is roughly equivalent to two 4-hour half-days or one full-day per week over the course of the academic year.
Fellows (full-time) commit to 1700 hours of service (including training), which is roughly 40 hours a week from mid-August 2025 through the end of July 2026.
