Legal Assistant Search
We are a boutique, Plaintiff-side employment law firm, looking to hire full-time Legal Assistant for position in Century City, Los Angeles. This position is open to recent graduates with exceptional analytical skills and writing ability as evidenced by grades and class rank. We are looking for personable candidates who can commit to the firm for at least a year upon hiring. This could be remote position if needed.
Job Duties
Responsibilities for the “Legal Assistant” position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting in drafting complaints, mediation briefs, and demand letters
- Assisting in developing case theory and advancing case development
- Propounding and responding to discovery requests
- Monitoring case progression and acting as a liaison between clients and attorneys
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would be someone who is naturally curious, with strong people skills, and
detail-oriented. Additionally, we’re looking for candidates with:
- Strong writing ability
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, ZOOM, ADOBE, other office applications
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and take initiative
- Ability to relate to wide range of clients from many backgrounds
- Interest in the law and social issues

ANNOUNCEMENT
UNDERGRADUATE INTERN
The Berkeley Law Death Penalty Clinic is seeking work-study interns ($16.32/hour) for both
remote and in-person work in Spring 2023, with the possibility of continuing into the fall.
The Death Penalty Clinic is a law practice engaged in direct representation of individuals
facing capital punishment. Interns work with the faculty, paralegal, and law students, and
will be held to strict confidentiality requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
• Must be a U.C. Berkeley undergraduate, preferably a junior or senior
• Must be able to commit 10-15 hours per week to the clinic
• Must be dependable, responsible, and good at time management
• Must be trustworthy due to the responsibility of working on capital cases
• Must be compassionate, dedicated to confidentiality, and team-oriented
• Must be detail-oriented
Responsibilities may include:
• Inventorying and analyzing electronic files
• Researching information online relevant to cases
• Preserving, managing, and collecting records
• Updating databases
As an intern, you will be exposed to the realities of working on a capital case and engage in
projects that contribute to the professional work of the organization. You will also be invited
to audit (attend but not actively participate in) most of the Death Penalty Clinic classes that
are required for the law students in the clinic. This class is on Wednesdays, 3:35 pm-5:25
pm. Attendance is an optional perk for interns to learn more about the death penalty and
get to know the law students. It is not required for interns and is not paid.

Beinecke Scholarship (2023–2024)

The Beinecke Scholarship provides $35,000 ($5,000 prior to graduate study
and $15,000 per year) for two years of graduate study in the arts, humanities, or social sciences. The program seeks to encourage and enable highly motivated students to pursue opportunities available to them and to be courageous in the selection of a graduate course of study. Eligibility requirements:
• be a U.S. citizen or national
• be a "Junior" planning to receive a baccalaureate degree between Dec 2023 and Aug 2024
• have demonstrated superior academic achievement (typically 3.5 GPA or higher)
• be planning to enter a research-focused master’s or doctoral program or MFA in the arts, humanities, or social sciences (not including neuroscience or professional degrees)
• have a documented history of receiving need-based financial aid as an undergraduate
