1) Soc 114
Soc 114
Soc 114: Sociology of Law is not the same class as Legalst 184: Sociology of Law.
Soc 114 can count as Area II or IV only, it does not count as a Core class.
Legalst 184 can count as a Core (SS) or Area IV.
I always advise that if a course can count as a Core, count it as a Core.

2) No Overlapping w/in the Major
No Overlapping w/in the Major
There is no overlapping or double-counting of requirements within the major.
For example, if you take Poli Sci 112B, you can use it to fulfill the Phil prereq or Area V, but not both. You need to choose one or the other.
Here's another example, some classes can fulfill a Core requirement or an Area.
You need to choose how you would like to count it, either as a Core class or as an Area course, but not both. LS 103 is a good example.
That's why the courses are listed as "Core or Area"
I always advise that if a course can count as a Core, count it as a Core.
That's because the list is short, we can't always offer all of them each term and there are no exceptions with the Core classes. You can only fulfill your Core requirements with courses from that list in our department.

Latin Am. Fa22 Forum Evnt
My name is Giovanni Ruiz, and on behalf of the Latin American Leadership Society (LLS) at the University of California Berkeley, I would be honored to invite you to our Fall 2022 Forum Event, Cine Foro. We are an organization composed of members from across Latin America, united with a shared passion and interest in development efforts in the region, culture, and community.

The Forum Committee hosts various events to raise awareness and promote productive and respectful dialogue within the UC Berkeley community. This year, we will be hosting an event on labor rights in the agricultural industry in light of the contemporary obstacles farmers face through a screening of “The Fight in the Fields” and “Covid’s Hidden Toll.”

We are also excited to present the films’ directors and producers for an interactive discussion with the audience. The panel of speakers will include the following:
  • Emmy Award-winning director and producer Rick Tejada-Flores.
  • Emmy Award-winning producer and director of UC Berkeley’s Department of Ethnic Studies Raymond Telles.
  • Winner of both the DuPont-Columbia Journalism and the RFK Grand Prize for Journalism, Emmy Award nominee, Professor Andrés Cediel.
  • Emmy-winning director, producer, correspondent, and DuPont Award Finalist Daffodil Altan.

This event will be located in Genetics & Plant Biology Building 100 on Friday, November 18th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
