Survey for Honors Research

Hello! I’m conducting a short survey as part of my undergraduate thesis on social media trends, gender norms, and consumer behavior. The survey takes about 15–20 minutes, and all responses are anonymous. Your participation would be incredibly helpful. Please contact erinshaotran@berkeley.edu with any questions/concerns or if you would like to participate in a follow up interview. Thank you so much for your time!

Law Firm Job
Legal Assistant (Hybrid) — San Francisco

Conn Law, PC is a growing consumer protection law firm headquartered in San Francisco. We
represent individuals in high-impact cases that protect everyday people from unfair corporate
practices.

If you’re someone thinking seriously about law school—or a long-term litigation path—this is a
chance to get close to the work: how cases are evaluated, built, organized, and moved forward.
As a core part of our small team, you’ll see the real mechanics of client-centered litigation.

Position: Full-time, hybrid

In-office requirement: 2–3 days/week in our downtown San Francisco office
Salary: $60,000–$70,000/year, depending on experience

Duties/Description of Job:

• Build case files from day one: Scan, upload, label, and index incoming documents so
attorneys can assess matters efficiently.
• Keep files litigation-ready: Maintain organized electronic and physical client files, using
clear naming conventions and a reliable filing structure.
• Support intake and early case strategy: Speak with potential clients to clarify what
documents are needed for attorney review, helping move good cases forward and setting
clear expectations.
• Track case expenses: Enter litigation and client expenses into our case management
system accurately and on time.
• Handle court runs: Retrieve and file documents at the courts, helping ensure deadlines
are met and records are complete.
• Performing other duties as needed.

What we’re looking for:
• You’re organized, careful, and take pride in getting details right.
• You communicate clearly and professionally by phone and email, including with stressed
or confused clients.
• You’re comfortable with scanning workflows, PDFs, and basic office tech—and you
learn systems quickly.
• You’re reliable about deadlines and time-sensitive tasks.
• You’re interested in litigation, consumer advocacy, or law school, and you want real
exposure to the field.
• You have a good sense of humor. Nice to have (not required)
• Prior admin/office experience (legal or otherwise).
• Familiarity with e-filing or case management software.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, etc.).

Benefits & perks
• Medical and dental benefits.
• Transit stipend for commuting on in-office days.
• Hybrid schedule with predictable in-office expectations.
• Mentorship and hands-on training in litigation.

How to apply
Please send to info@connlawpc.com:

4) ACES Fellows
ACES Fellows
Call for Applications: ACES Undergraduate Fellows

The American Cultures Center is pleased to announce that we have received funding from the Campus Advisory Committee on Student Services & Fees, which will allow us to support our ever-evolving American Cultures Engaged Scholarship (ACES) program. By partnering American Cultures courses with Bay Area social justice community organizations, ACES promotes experiential learning and deep reflective engagement, allowing students to apply classroom content to today’s most pressing social issues

This new funding will allow us to support 10 undergraduate students as ACES fellows for this upcoming semester in Spring 2026. Fellows play a critical role in developing a course’s community-engagement component, collaborating closely with faculty members to foster meaningful undergraduate learning experiences. They ensure that community partnerships are mutually beneficial and contribute to long-term community impact.

This opportunity could not have come at a better time, as the American Cultures Center is continuing to develop new and exciting opportunities for growing community-engaged scholarship on campus. In partnership with the Student Environmental Resource Center’s Decolonial Environmental Network, we have been diligently working to develop our newest initiative, the Environmental Justice American Cultures Initiative. This initiative has already invited exciting opportunities to develop critical, community-engaged environmental justice curricula that apply decolonial and environmental justice frameworks to real-world issues.

5) APR doesn't work for Legalst
APR doesn't work for Legalst
Please know that the section of the APR (academic progress report in CalCentral on the My Academics page) that lists the requirements for the Legal Studies major does not work.

Resist the urge to look at that section of the report.
Do not use that section to keep track of your Legalst requirements.
I know most of you have a color-coded spreadsheet that tracks your major requirements, but if you don't have that, you can use my super simple course line-up template to keep track (the 3 and 4 indicate units):
Prereqs: need Phil, Stats, Hist, Social/Behavioral Science
Core: (make sure one is designated as Humanities, with an H.)
need  4
need  4
need  4
need  4
Areas:  (two fall in one Area, the other two in two other different Areas)
need  4
need  4
need  3-4
need  3-4
You can use the APR to track your College and University requirements.
Those requirements will auto-approve at graduation, so be sure everything says 'satisfied'.
I will approve your Legal Studies requirements manually and I do not use the APR to do so.

6) Soc 149  Sp26
Soc 149  Sp26
Sociology 149 has been approved as a law-related course in Area I.
Taaaaake it... It has seats available. It's offered one day a week with no discussion section, just like most of our special topics seminars.

Click on the link below for enrollment info.
Selected Topics: The Penal State: Punishment, Inequality, Identity
This course starts by reviewing the main sociological theories about crime, punishment and inequality to give us tools to map out the penal state. Then we work our way down the “penal chain”: police, jail, court (prosecution, public defense, judging via plea bargaining and trial), probation, imprisonment and parole. We end by considering the possibilities and pitfalls of criminal justice reform or abolition.

7) Don't Walk Alone
Don't Walk Alone
NIght Safety Services is there for you!
Please don't walk home alone in the dark once it gets late.
I know some of you study late, or will have that 7-10pm final on Friday.
It's especially not a good time of year to be out by your lonesome in the dark.
Take advantage of walking with someone or call for a ride.
Or pay for a ride...okay? Okay! ;-)
