2) PIPS
PIPS
The Political Science department has created a program, known as the Pipeline Initiative in Political Science (PIPS, for short), which is designed to help students learn about what it means to earn a PhD in political science and how to prepare for and apply to PhD programs.
The program is open to students who are in at least their second year of college studies. The program is focused on helping students who are first-generation college students, from historically minoritized or underrepresented groups, or from low-income backgrounds.
Students who are selected for the program will participate in a series of workshops throughout the semester - scheduled for Mondays in the afternoon from 12 to 2:00 pm and will be advised on pursuing research opportunities as an undergraduate. There may also be an opportunity to receive mentoring from graduate students and faculty. Students who pursue this may earn one credit unit for completing the program. Elective credit only. Also, remember to steer clear of time conflicts as time conflicts are not allowed.

3) Appointment Times
Appointment Times
Your Phase I and Phase II appointment times are determined by your terms in attendance and cannot be changed.

4) No Double-Counting
No Double-Counting
There is no double-counting within the major.
You must have four Core classes (one must be designated as Humanities),
and four Area courses for a total of eight separate upper division courses (30 units minimum).
Two of the Area courses must fall in one Area and the other two of the four need to be in distinctly different Areas as well.

5) Legalst APR Doesn't Work
Legalst APR Doesn't Work
The APR (Academic Progress Report in CalCentral) does not work for the Legal Studies major.
You will need to keep track of your major requirements.
I will clear you for the major requirements at graduation time.
For everything else College and University-related, you should use the APR to check because those requirements are auto-approved at graduation time.
Be sure the APR reflects what you know you've completed.
